In late August I placed a series of nine geocaches along the Old Mail Route between Paringa (in SA) and Lake Cullulleraine (in Vic). The cache description states the caches are dry weather only caches. Unfortunately, there have been a number of instances already where geocachers have become stuck whilst completing the series.
Over the weekend we attended The “Let’s Raid The Food Bowl” geocaching event at Mildura.
We had dinner at the Gateway Tavern. The above photo was taken with my iPhone as geocachers starting arriving at the dinner venue.
The South Australian geocaching community holds its biggest event over the June Long Weekend. This year the event was held in Maitland which is about four hours drive from the Riverland. It was wet, wet, wet with a few roads becoming almost undriveable.
As I work in Adelaide and we are going to Coobowie for the Easter long weekend, I decided to extend my long weeke end by having Thursday off and go caching, with the aim being to end up in Coobowie.
On this occasion I went out twilight caching with Skippy. We cached around Burnside and the Clipsal 500 track.
Another great twilight caching run in the company of Adrian Mc. The hides seem to be getting trickier and trickier. A number of tonight’s caches were extremely well camouflaged.
Today as part of the Riverland Rendezvous 2 – Chowilla Floodplain CITO event an intrepid group of geocachers went geocaching on the Chowilla floodplain whilst collecting litter in and around a number of geocaches.
Tonight we conducted the inaugural Murray COD (Caches of Distinction) Awards for 2008. The venue was the Renmark Club.
Went out twilight caching with AdrianMc again. This time we cached around One Tree Hill and Elizabeth.
We again went out twilight caching around the RAAF Base, Globe Derby and Mawson Lakes.
