Decided I’d make the SA Event my 500th find and 3rd find for the day.
Once again many many thanks to the Parrots and the Frogs for co-ordinating such a successful event. Whilst they couldn’t control the weather, they had everything else pretty much under control. The weather did add a degree of difficulty to the terrain for those in 2WD cars. Having encountered such difficulties on our third or fourth find and having slide from one side of the track to the other hopping not to get bogged, we decided not to be competitive and mixed finding event caches with normal caches and enjoyed ourselves. Will be looking forward to next years event – wherever that maybe.

We had some puzzling technical difficulties when we started which were a lot easier to solve than Mr Z’s puzzles.
Mr Z explained the A, B. C’s and 1, 2, 3′s of puzzles in such a way that he made the most devious and evil puzzles a quick walk in the park to solve.
I think I’m one of the more “out of the square” puzzle solvers as I fall into the category where if I don’t get it in 30 seconds I give up.
After tonight I might be twice as good and give up in a minute!

Having read the description I was looking for a 200ml sistema container, without much luck. Resorted to reading the clue, which initially didn’t offer much help. Spied something sort of masonry, but not quite, and found the cache. For future finders, the cache is now a 35mm film canister.

Made this one into a mini event. We had a surprise party to attend this evening at Kingston-On-Murray so decided to find the cache on the way. As we got near GZ we spied a car and our initial thoughts were muggles. As we got closer we realised that it was Crane2′s car. Having pulled up, we realised that Crane2 had done the hard work finding the cache, it was then passed it on to us to log. We left our mark on the log sheet and returned the cache to its hidey spot. We then pulled away leaving Crane2 in our wake.

Another great lunch. The new venue is very spacious. Meals were served in a very timely manner and I didn’t miss out as occurred at the previous venue. Managed to find a two hour park almost across the road from the Pub.
Met with the Dutch visitors; very envious of their itinerary, hope that they enjoy exploring our great country and the hospitality of the geocaching community at large.

Being in the lead vehicle did have its advantages – we didn’t have to eat any dust!
Couldn’t believe how dry the area is – it did rain a week ago, but you wouldn’t have known.
Everyone has a good time and we cleaned up a bit of litter along the way and placed a cache as well.
Most teams agreed that they wouldn’t have otherwise gone out on the floodplain if it weren’t for the event with the opportunity to clean up the environment and combine that activity with a little caching.

Great to meet for the first time some local (dwk hutch) and some not so local cachers (Orange Angels from Port Lincoln).
From the logs posted to date it appears everyone had a good time caching in and around Renmark & Paringa.
My apologies for not allowing more time – my beta tester assured me that two hours would be OK. Perhaps their local knowledge wasn’t factored into the time limit.
One cache was made much more difficult than it ought to be due to the arrival at Renmark Airport of the Crows and the hawks for the AFL game at Berri. We also had a team or two go to the football between events.
The weather was perfect and the picnic lunch was a time for most cachers to catch up on some tips and tricks.
Thankfully most of the activities went off without too much of a hitch.

What to say! Found in the company of AdrianMc. We didn’t have loaded the additional waypoints and made finding this cache more difficult than it should have been. We approached from the top rather than from the designated track. Initially we believed the cache name referred to the copious amount of bark near WP1. Upon discovering WP1 we were then confronted by the cache guardian. Having soothed the guardian we extracted the cache to log our find. Thanks for the novel experience.
